I always love reading about other people’s monthly favourites so thought that I would give it a go too. I love to try new things and share ideas with fellow slimmers and friends!
Walkers Sunbites Wholegrain Popcorn – Sweet & Salty: 2.5 syns per 14g bag
These are amazing for snacking on and are very tasty! Although 14g doesn’t really sound like a lot, you do get a fair amount of popcorn in the bag. These are great for watching movies and getting your fix of on plan snackage, or to fling in your bag for an on the go treat.
You can generally pick these up for around £1-£1.80 (and are usually on offer) for a pack of 6 bags.
Alpro Longlife Chocolate Almond Milk – 5.5 syns per 250ml or HEA for 250ml
Heaven. Heaven in a carton! I chuffin love this stuff and cannot recommend it enough! I am not a massive cheese eater and don’t drink tea or coffee so I never seem to use my healthy extra A choice. I saw someone post about this on Instagram a couple of years ago and decided to give it a try, and boy am I happy I did. It’s sweet (but not too sweet) and it really does feel like you are having something naughty. A 1litre carton gives you 4 days worth of HEA so is deffo worth a try. Don’t get this confused with the Alpro Soya Chocolate drink as you can only have 200ml of that for your HEA!
Cartons usually cost around £1.50-£1.80 and are available in most supermarkets, that said I have never seen it in Asda.
January is probably my favourite month for trying new products, simply because I get so many amazing Christmas presents and the January sales are always lush for beauty stuff!
Benefit B.Right! Total Moisture Facial Cream
This stuff is a total game changer. I have always had combination skin and I have been tackling dry patchy areas on my face for what seems like forever. A couple of months before Christmas I purchased a gift set (yes, for myself) which contained this moisturiser and a few mini skin care items (eye cream, face serum & porefessional) all for the bargain price of £29.50. The moisturiser itself costs the same as the gift set so it was definitely worth the investment. I have been using this for about 2 months and my skin feels and looks so much healthier. It isn’t oily at all and works great under make up.
Available in most department stores (go for Debenhams if you have a beauty card), you can pick this up for £29.50.
Milani Baked Blush – Luminoso
This blush is what dreams are made of. I saw Nikkie Tutorials using this and always wanted to try it however I couldn’t find it in the UK anywhere.. until Beauty Bay finally got on the band wagon! Great for a subtle blush with a hint of highlight for days when you dont want to be too ‘out there’. I use it every day for work and love the glow!
Available on Beauty Bay for £10.00
Benefit They’re Real Mascara
I have never been a fan of plastic mascara applicators. I got this thinking it was a normal mascara brush and was a little sad when I opened it. Being as it retails for around twenty quid there was no way I wasn’t going to try it.. and once I did, I could not have been happier! It is a lovely product, not too watery, not too clumpy and goes on smoothly. The product stays all day, yet is easy to remove at night time. Love love love this!
Available in most department stores (go for Debenhams if you have a beauty card) for around £19.50.
Kat Von D Shade & Light Eyeshadow Pallette
This product is a must have in all make up bags. Finally, a decent palette with all matte shades that actually work together. You can achieve so many looks with this and it most definitely a staple in my collection now. The shadows are very pigmented and easy to blend, you do get a little fall out but only if you don’t do a brush tap before applying. Go get it!!
Available in Debenhams for £37.00.
No 7 City Light Tinted Moisturiser
I have really struggled with BB creams in the past. I have always chosen the ‘light’ or ‘extra light’ colours and they still come up orange on me! I wanted a tinted moisturiser that gives coverage but also hydrates, and this really does the trick. I use this every day for work and it is perfect if you don’t want to look too full on. The light shade works wonders for me, I would recommend if you are struggling to find a light coloured base product with a light coverage that actually works! It also has an SPF of 15 and is hypo allergenic! Bonus!
Available in Boots for £12.50
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer
I wanted this concealer for sooo long, but I just didn’t want to spend a fortune on shipping from the USA (as it was always sold out in the UK) and I didn’t want a humungous customs charge so I decided to leave it. Until.. I got an email from Tarte (as I was signed up to their Newsletter) advising that they were going to give me a 30% off code AND they also happened to have free worldwide shipping too, woo hoo!! This brought the product down to under £15 and after doing some homework I found out that anything shipped from outside the UK is not subject to customs if it costs under £15 – WINNER! Anyway, I digress! The product is just as amazing as you can imagine, all of the YouTube gurus really are right about this concealer. Great coverage, great colour match and a little bit goes a long long way. I would recommend signing up to their newsletter and waiting for an offer as it saved me a lot of pennies!
Available on the Tarte website for £19 plus shipping or on the QVC website for £28 (but it does come with a blending sponge)
Pulled Pork with Hassleback potatoes and Veggies – Syn Free!
Ah-may-zing. I always roast the potatoes with rosemary, thyme, salt and a few syns worth of honey to give it the sweetness. Also, once the pork is done and pulled, I always put the sauce in a pan and warm until reduced to pour over the pork!
Pulled Pork Ingredients
- 1.5-2kg pork shoulder, all fat removed
- 5 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp mustard powder
- 500g passata
- 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
- 3 tbsp sweetener
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- In a small bowl, mix passata, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweetener and seasoning. Transfer to a small pan and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
- Meanwhile, trim and remove all visible fat from the pork and sear all sides in a hot frying pan. Transfer to a slow cooker coat with the sauce and cook for 8-12 hours on LOW.
- Remove the pork from the slow cooker and place on a cutting board. Allow the meat to cool for approximately 15 minutes, then shred into bite-sized pieces using two forks.
- Remove the sauce from the pan and set aside to drizzle on the meat later.
He is one of my favourite artists ever! I don’t really have many CD’s in my car as I tend to connect my phone to listen to music, but my boyfriend’s Nan was visiting so I wanted to put something Granny friendly on and it has been on in my car for a few weeks now! He never get’s old (well HE does but his music is timeless) and it’s nice to start the day feeling pumped from all of Stevie’s feel good vibes!
Helen Anderson / Anderz
I honestly love this girl. She is so down to earth, funny, honest and NORMAL. Her daily vlogs are addictive and she has soon become my favourite content creator. Go and check out her channels!
Thank you for reading this long arse blog! If you made it this far you deserve a medal! Note to self – do not rave about SO many beauty products next month!!
What have you been loving in January?
